It is finally getting cooler here in the desert. There has already been some snow in the northern part of our state. Time is marching on. As the scripture says, our lives are like a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. I have a 91 year old uncle living in Oregon - a WWII veteran who has been given about 6 months to live. His heart is failing. 91 years sounds like a long time, but I'm sure to him it seems like a very short amount of time. My husband has been asked to do a funeral next week for an elderly lady. He has done quite a few funerals since he retired from being a pastor over nine years ago. The Bible says it is appointed to man once to die and after that comes the judgment. This week I have been reminded how short life really is - for everybody. It is easy to get caught up in the things that are going on in our day to day living and forget how soon it will all be over. I don't want to sound morbid, but these are sobering thoughts for me. It reminds me that spiritual things are so much more important than material things that we hold dear.
Thank you for sharing each week. You are such a blessing to me and to each other.
